Girl Riders Organization; GRO

SKATERA thinks GRO rocks! We share the same vision of getting more girls on skateboards and feeling the stoke! What is GRO you ask? It is the brain child of a skater girl with a vision! Courtney wants to get the word out to America that girls can and should be skating and she has been doing it one city at a time! She has spent the last year touring the US building skate girl communities and getting more girls on skateboards. We had a chance to catch up with Courtney when she was on our home turf in Southern Cali.

Skate The Coast with B4BC

Just another Day of Skateboarding and fundraising as Skatera’s very own Pamela Zoolalian and Chris Chaput spent the afternoon helping out a great cause, Boarding for Breast Cancer. This year's Skate the Coast event was amazing! Everyone was out in full force with smiles ear to ear and ready to roll 20 miles to help raise awareness and funds for a very important cause. We met so many amazing and enthusiastic new friends that it made for the most rewarding day. If you’d like to know more about B4BC and how you too can get involved you can check out their site at www.b4bc.org.

STOKED for Fundraising

Stoked Mentoring and Skatera teamed up at this years Surf Expo for a great fundraising effort. Skatera raffled off one of our complete Bomb Pop skateboards, three tee shirts from our Spring 2010 Line and a subscription to Concrete Wave magazine. All raffle holders were really excited to help support a great cause. Our winner was John Shiver a local out of Florida! As he was buying his tickets he was heard saying; “I’ve never won anything, so I am here to just give for a great cause!”

Maryhill Festival of Speed

Skatera was very excited to get behind the Girls Downhill Skateboard division for this years IGSA Maryhill Festival of Speed. The “Maryhill Festival of Speed” is the premier gravity sports racing event in North America and features International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) World Cup competitions for the sports of Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Downhill Inline Skating and Gravity Bike. Skatera wanted to help showcase the girls of Downhill by giving them a great prize purse to battle for. Brianne Davies continued her domination of Women's Downhill Skateboarding with a convincing win at Maryhill. Davies was the #1 qualifier and won all of her heats enroute to her victory. She looked set to have a good battle with her arch rival Katie Neilson who qualified in the #2 position, but injury and rain changed the state of the days racing. However that didn’t take away from this years amazing event. The girls are getting stronger and faster each year. Skatera loves this style of great head to head racing! Keep rockin’ Girls!
